The Revival of the Festival of Motoring - "A Great Event for all the family" In 1990, four local motoring enthusiasts decided to celebrate this little known piece of motoring history and started "The Bexhill 100" on the sea front along the original road where motor racing was introduced all those years ago. It was in May 1995 that Bexhill on Sea was at last officially recognised as the Birthplace of British Motor Racing, and road signs to this effect were errected at the entrances to Bexhill - obelisks (pictured right) were appropriately placed along the sea front to indicate the start and finish lines of the infamous races which had taken place there in May 1902.

Today the event is one of the largest and most spectacular shows in the South of England. Entrance to the public is free and it attracts a family audience in excess of 100,000 over the two days of the first Bank holiday in May when some of the rarest cars on earth with values that run into millions of pounds take part.

On show are vintage, veteran, classic, steam, custom, racing and American cars, traction engines, military vehicles, dragsters and motorcycles. National and International companies, car dealers and local and national traders take sales space right along the sea front and form a colourful display of goods for sale and attractions for families who come from miles around to have a go on rides, games, the Edwardian Funfair or to try the various simulators, take helicopter flights, watch parachute jumping and air displays and spend a most enjoyable day by the sea. The event raises money for Local and National Charities such as the Friends of Bexhill Hospital, the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, the NSPCC and many more.
